Teatime and Storytelling

The Guelph Enabling Garden will be offering something new, which is really old, this summer.

Beginning June 22, seniors are invited to the Garden located in Riverside Park every Friday morning between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., where they can sip a lemonade or tea while enjoying the ancient art of storytelling.

Old and new storytellers from Guelph will be volunteering their time to provide the stories. Long-time teller Ann Estill will share tales along with Sandy Schoen on June 22, while Beve Matson and Brian Holstein will entertain their audience on June 29.

Maryann Bailey and Vince Wall, both local tellers of note will also be making appearances through July and August, along with other members of the community and Guelph Guild of Storytellers.

There is no charge for these functions which will run throughout the summer months.

For more information, contact Lea Tran at 519-993-5323 or lea@green-ideas.ca

The Gardening Experience

As you walk the wide, wheelchair-friendly paths, read the donor bricks with memorials of loved ones, and others with wonderful proverbs. Listen to the river, walk the spiral path. Admire the raised and ground beds which have been planted and are maintained by community groups and individuals as part of their own horticultural therapy programme. The Wellington Association for Community Living, Guelph Services for People with Disabilities, Spark of Brilliance, Zonta and Arc Industries are some of the organizations, which bring their members regularly to the garden to care for their raised or ground beds. See, feel, smell, touch and hear what there is to discover in this very special garden.
